About the Client / My Role
Strasse Haus is a dive bar and live music venue located in Covington, KY. Known for its punk roots, local crowd, and rotating lineup of regional talent, the venue needed a consistent visual approach to promote its events, specials, and community atmosphere.
I was brought on as a designer and stayed on for over 8 years, creating monthly calendars that showcased upcoming bands, DJs, and drink specials. My work used the bar’s existing branding and extended it into print and digital promotional materials that stayed in tune with the venue’s raw, street-level aesthetic.
The Process
• Used the bar’s existing logo and style to design monthly event calendars
• Collaborated closely with the events and marketing manager to gather lineups and weekly themes
• Maintained direct relationships with local musicians and promoters to keep schedules accurate and up to date
• Designed quick-turn, editable layouts that could pivot as shows changed — often with little notice

Conclusion / Analysis
This was more than just a design gig — it was my first real client, and my introduction to working with live venues, bands, and fast-moving timelines. I became embedded in the scene, helping the bar promote its culture while adapting to its ever-changing schedule. The relationship lasted over 8 years and taught me how to build trust, stay flexible, and design with real-world impact.
